Sewing Room Redo (again :)

With the addition of my sweet sweet Silhouette Cameo that my dear husband surprised me for Christmas, I decided to redo my sewing room.  2 coffee cups later this is what I have so far oO. 

Closet Overhaul and Pegboard Jewelry Organizer

After putting it off for so long, I decided to tackle on the challenge of cleaning out my closet and getting it organized once and for all. My poor husband has had enough of walking past my closet and stepping on at least one hard / sharp object each time.  LOL.

I spent several solid hours sorting through the outdated and unwanted  un-needed things.  It was all worth it in the end.  My little walk in closet is now fun to walk into.  I can see everything I have and better put outfits together.  So long to sweatpants and hoodies, which all started because I simply couldn't find things to wear together.

My advice in tackling this is to make one bin for throw away, one for donating, and coordinating sections, ie., tops, bottoms, outerwear.  Then break it down further by 

Tops

• tank tops
• short sleeves
• long sleeves

Dresses

• dresses with short sleeves
• long sleeves

Pants (goes on the bottom rack)

• skirts
• jeans

Jackets

• coats
• lighter jackets
• dressy jackets

Scarves

Belts

Accessories

• necklaces
• watches and bracelets
• earrings
• casual bracelets
• hair clips

Accessory Wall using a Pegboard

What a simple and inexpensive way to organize and showcase my accessories!  I had NO IDEA I had this many necklaces..I keep buying them thinking I didn't have any.  It's easier now than ever to coordinate accessories with outfits.. and fun too!

Here's how I did it.

• 2x4 pegboard from Home Depot $7 (cut to your specific measurement.  mine was 1.5'x4')
• pegboard accessories kit $7 
• power drill
• leveler

This kit comes with 6 screws and space savers which are a time saver from make my own spacer from wood blocks.  Insert one of these into each corner of the pegboard and two on the middles sides for support.

You can even put a coat of pain on the board to jazz it up.  I thought about it, but prefer the white that the board came with.

Here's what it would look like with paint.  This is my other pegboard used for my crafting supplies.  I just love using these to organize!

So there you have it!  It was a laborious task, but made enjoyable with a bottle of champagne and my Pandora radio!
